King Charles has given Princess Beatrice, the daughter of ex-Prince Andrew, a new, much-coveted royal charity patronage and she was actually sent out on a royal job today, to a hospital, in what is shaping up to be an astonishing repeat of the mistakes he made over Andrew.
At a time when his subjects and the wider world want the York family completely excised from royal life, there was Beatrice, touring a London hospital in her role as its royal patron and issuing statements.
Beatrice should, I felt, have been lit by a flickering gaslight as she declared, like everything was dandy and normal: “I am so grateful for the scientists and clinicians who took the time today to show me the advances they are making to reduce the risks to expectant mums and babies.”
