Just a few weeks ago, Nicole Kidman’s divorce from Keith Urban sent Hollywood into a frenzy, and new reports are revealing what allegedly led to the split.
According to insiders, Urban, 58, has been experiencing what the inside source describes as a “midlife crisis,” which has led to behavior that ultimately drove a wedge between the longtime couple.
RadarOnline reported this week that Urban has been “acting out” and making a “string of confusing choices.” The publication claims that he had begun to feel hemmed in by the marriage, and his growing frustrations ultimately led to the separation.
As the couple settles their divorce filing in Nashville, new details have emerged about how blindsided Kidman reportedly was by Urban’s decision. Although the pair had been struggling, sources say they were on the mend before Urban abruptly ended things.
“Kidman and Urban had been experiencing marital difficulties but were getting it back together when he floored her with the decision that it was all over,” said one source who has known the actress for decades.
The Eyes Wide Shut star, also 58, has not publicly commented on the split but is said to still have strong feelings for her estranged husband. “She would get back with him in a heartbeat,” the insider added, noting that Kidman might be open to reconciliation if Urban hasn’t moved on.

While sources say Kidman is now in a “good headspace,” she and Urban continue to navigate the challenges of co-parenting. “The hardest part is navigating the dynamic with their daughters,” a source told Us Weekly.
“The last thing Nicole wanted was a broken family,” the insider added, emphasizing that she “raised her daughters to be strong and is leading by example for them.”
The same source said Kidman “isn’t necessarily trying to find her new normal throughout all of this, because they had been quietly separated for a while now.” According to the insider, “this next chapter feels more like a transition than a shock.”
Divorce documents obtained by the Daily Mail revealed that Kidman will be the primary residential parent of their teenage daughters. The arrangement gives the Big Little Lies actress 306 days a year with their children, while Urban will have 59.
