Robert De Niro made his directorial debut with the 1993 coming-of-age crime drama, A Bronx Tale, starring Lillo Brancato and Taral Hicks as love interests. The two young actors are now grown up and have reunited 32 years after sharing the big screen.
Marie Claire posted photos of the two stars reuniting on Instagram, writing, “Can you believe it’s been 32 years? @sheistaralhicksdawson and @lillo_brancato, who stole our hearts as Jane and Calogero in A Bronx Tale, reunite in a photo that has fans feeling nostalgic.”
Hicks commented on the post, saying, “Thank you so much for showing love.”
The post includes a side-by-side comparison of the two actors in 1993 versus them together in 2025. Fans can agree that the two haven’t aged a day, with the post also including throwback photos of them on set and short clips of their scenes together.
In A Bronx Tale, Brancato played the leading role of an Italian-American teen named Calogero living in the Bronx. He becomes enamored by the mafia and forms a close bond with mob boss Sonny (Chazz Palminteri), despite his father’s warnings.
Part of Calogero’s story involved meeting an African-American girl named Jan Williams (Hicks) and starting a tentative romance.
A Bronx Tale was the start of Brancato’s acting career and his first leading role. De Niro was impressed by Brancato’s impression of Travis Bickle from Taxi Driver, and it won him the role in the 1993 movie. He later joined The Sopranos as Matthew Bevilaqua, a young mobster associated.
Like Brancato, the 1993 mob movie was also Hick’s first movie role, and she went on to appear in other roles throughout her career. She also went on to become an R&B singer, debuting her studio album This Time in 1997.
