ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — News 13 has learned through the Artists Music Guild that local Blue’s musician Kat Williams has died.
The Artists Music Guild posted on social media on Nov. 12 about Williams’ death, saying she had been a member of the Guild since 2011.
“The Artists Music Guild is sadden by the breaking news of the passing of a true musical legend. Blue’s icon Kat Williams passed away unexpectedly tonight,” the post said. “Kat, who has been a member of the Guild since 2011 has always been and will always be our heart. She was never too tired to help with any charities we were doing, nor was she ever afraid of rolling up her sleeves and jumping in to help our public schools.”

According to past News 13 reporting, Williams had a kidney transplant in 2019.
“Kat’s most famous joke about her new kidney was, ‘Does this kidney make my butt look bigger?’ It’s hard to say goodbye to a legend, but it’s even harder to say when the legend is a FRIEND,” the post said.
Williams has been invited by several U.S. presidents, Jay Leno, the late Robin Williams, and other notable celebrities to perform her unique blend of jazz, blues, gospel, sacred music, and pop, according to a past News 13 article. She has performed in concerts, Off-Broadway plays, documentaries and was featured in a country-music video for “Land of the Sky,” accompanying Don Clayton and featuring Aaron “Woody” Wood.
The Guild also posted that arrangements will be announced at a later date and that the family has asked for consideration at this time for their privacy.
