Sally Kirkland’s representative issued a statement after the Hollywood icon’s passing that included a six-word quip made in her memory.

The Oscar-nominated actress died on Tuesday, November 11, at age 84, after battling multiple health issues. Her representative, Michael Greene, sent a statement to The Mirror US on behalf of himself, Sally’s executor Coty Halloway and her biographer Jack Rosenberg.

The message conveyed thanks for the overwhelming love and support received about Sally while also celebrating her life. The statement included a lighthearted moment: “She’ll be taking interviews in heaven.”

“In the last few days, there’s been a tremendous outpouring of love and support from all over the world. Sally had so many amazing and talented souls in her life. She most definitely feels all of the love that’s been sent her way – especially now,” the statement began.

“She’ll be taking interviews in heaven. (She’d approve of that bad joke.). Sally always loved being out there – as you all know. Love to everyone who has shared in her journey and celebrated her legendary work. She’s hugging every last one of you right now,” the statement continued. “So many of us were blessed to love you, protect you, hear your incredible stories, learn from you, and simply be in your presence. Speaking for all who loved you, Sally – it was an absolute honor to be part of your life. You are deeply missed, and we’ll always be thinking about you,” the statement concluded, before they signed off with a “We love you.”

Michael confirmed to The Mirror US that the veteran performer passed away on Tuesday morning. Sally’s passing follows reports of her battling multiple health complications.

A GoFundMe campaign was established on Sally’s behalf by “Friends of Sally” in November 2024. The fundraising page revealed that Sally had been unable to afford medical expenses after SAG-AFTRA eliminated supplemental insurance coverage for members aged 65 and older in 2021, reports The Mirror US.

The page further detailed that Sally had “fractured her four bones in her neck, right wrist, and her left hip” and “developed two separate life-threatening infections” during her recovery period.

In October, the fundraising campaign reported that Sally had experienced a fall. “It has been a [challenging] few months for Sally as her health continues to struggle. She had a fall in the shower, when she was left unattended; injuring her ribs, foot, along with cuts and bruises,” the GoFundMe said in their October 2 update.

“Sally is now receiving 24/7 care in a specialized facility that is providing wonderful safety and care. We are continuing to try to raise money to cover the gaps between income and care costs,” the update added. Sally’s acting career, which began in the 1960s, has spanned over 250 film and TV projects, including notable roles in “A Star Is Born” (1976), “Charlie’s Angels” (1979-1981), “JFK” (1991), and “Valley of the Dolls” (1994).

She gained significant recognition for her lead role in the 1987 indie comedy-drama “Anna,” earning an Oscar nomination for Best Actress and winning a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Motion Picture (Drama).

Even later in life, Sally remained active in the industry, with recent credits such as “80’s for Brady” (2023), “Sallywood” (2024), and the short film “Kallie” (2025). According to IMDB, she has five upcoming projects.

In addition to her acting career, Sally was also a yoga specialist and spiritual mentor, teaching yoga to stars like Robert De Niro, Elia Kazan, Robert Redford, and Bob Dylan, as she revealed in a 2002 interview with the Los Angeles Times.

Sally was married twice, first to musician Michael Jarrett in 1975 and then to jazz producer Mark Hebert in 1985. However, both marriages ended within three years.

In a 1988 interview with PEOPLE, she admitted, ”It’s hard to find a man who can handle my intensity. “.
