This group of Mom’Tokers has thrived on this streamer for three seasons now. So, it makes sense that Hulu is trying to get more bang for its buck. But how might these spinoffs look? Hulu scored big with The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. Its first season alone was the most-watched unscripted premiere of last year. Over 5 million viewers tuned in within its first five days of life on the streamer. Therefore, the team behind this glorious mess is now exploring its spinoff options.
Jeff Jenkins runs the production company that produces SLOMW. And as he recently told Deadline, he is engaging in several discussions about possible spinoff ideas with Hulu. “I’m very hopeful that something will be coming to viewers and fans very soon,” he said.
But what might these spinoffs contain? Well, this concept could go in many directions, Jeff admits. To start, producers could spin a new series off the first three words in the title. “The Secret Lives of… could be anything,” Jeff explained, “like The Secret Lives of Tibetan Nomadic Cattle Herders,” for example.
Next, other spinoffs might center around Mormonism. “Mormons are fascinating. It’s a fascinating subculture,” Jeff stressed. But who might star in these new series?
Well, “Because we’re talking about docuseries, we’re not talking about format, so what’s going to lead the way? The shining star, the guiding light, is going to be the personalities,” he answered. But Jeff stopped here. So we don’t know which Mom’Tokers might be the first in line to grab a second paycheck from Hulu.
