Political commentator Hasan Piker slams Gal Gadot, calls her a ‘dogs— actress’

Hasan Piker didn’t mince words when sharing his thoughts on actress Gal Gadot.

During a recent interview with Variety, the political commentator was asked whether he thought it was fair that director Mira Nair — the mother of New York City mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani — signed a petition calling for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to rescind the invitation extended to Gadot to appear at the Oscars for “her support for Israel’s military actions against Palestinians.”

“I think she should be banned from the Oscars for being a dogs— actress,” Piker bluntly replied. “I think she has no business being there for the crime of what she has done to not only the DC franchise, but really any movie she’s been a part of.”

But Piker’s qualms with Gadot go beyond his opinion of her acting ability.

“All jokes aside, Gal Gadot serves an important role in normalizing Israel as not a fascist ethno-state, but instead a place where a lot of beautiful women come from,” the 34-year-old Twitch streamer continued. “And those beautiful women happen to serve in the IDF, because there’s also this weird sexualization of the forces as well that takes place, and it plays another role in normalizing Israel and its activities and actions, and whitewashing it.”

Piker built his brand on political and social commentary, gaming, and messages on media consumption. The left-wing influencer is staunchly “anti-Israel,” which puts him in direct opposition of Gadot’s continued support of the country amid its siege of Gaza, which critics and the United Nations’ Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory have declared a genocide against Palestinians.

The media personality noted that Gadot would fare better in the public eye if she could act like Natalie Portman, who is also Israeli but never served in the IDF.

“If Gal Gadot could act like Natalie Portman, there’re probably less people yelling at her,” he theorized. “Natalie Portman has made statements about Israel that are middle of the road, but ultimately nobody holds that against her. Because she can act her freaking face off, all the way back when she was like a teenager.”

Gadot has encountered public criticism due to her vocal support of Israel’s actions; in March, the former Wonder Woman star saw her Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony disrupted by protestors critical of her pro-Israel stance.

According to Variety at the time, several dozen protestors chanted beyond the tented area where the ceremony was unfolding. At the same time, a contingent of Israel supporters were also onsite defending the actress. Though no one was hurt, there was a struggle after a protester snatched a flag from someone on the opposing side and ran down the street, resulting in police intervention.

The actress’ work has also faced public drama due to her involvement. In August 2024, following the release of Snow White‘s trailer, a member of the Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel called for a boycott of the film. The film went on to have a dismal box office debut when it premiered in March 2025, although it had other “external pressures” to contend with.

Snow White ended its global box office run on May 30 with a lifetime gross of $205 million, resulting in an estimated $115 million loss for Disney.

Despite the criticism she’s faced, Gadot continues to be vocal about her stance in support of her home country. In a Variety interview published the same day as her induction ceremony, she said: “[On] October 7th, when people were abducted from their homes, from their beds, men, women, children, elderly, Holocaust survivors, were going through the horrors of what happened that day, I could not be silent.”

“I was shocked by the amount of hate, by the amount of how much people think they know when they actually have no idea, and also by how the media is not fair many times. So I had to speak up,” she added.
