Jelly Roll’s Australian leg of his “Beautifully Broken” tour wasn’t a high point for his mental health. During an appearance on the “No Filter” podcast with Kate Langbroek this week, he was asked how he manages his mental health on tour.

“Oh, it’s a bad week to ask me,” Jelly Roll told Langbroek. “I’m falling apart. It’s a horrible week. Yeah, I’m doing the worst mentally I’ve done in a long time.”

The “Save Me” crooner, whose real name is Jason DeFord, went on to explain that because of how the tour was set up, he was spending a lot of time alone in hotel rooms. A contrast from when he was touring in the U.S. and would travel on a bus with other people.

“I don’t like spending a lot of time in my hotel room by myself,” he said. “I’m in my head. I’m not having fun, I want to go home.”

Jelly Roll also mentioned how his stomach issues had increased tenfold while touring in Australia, causing him to feel ill. “I naturally have an uneasy stomach,” he said. “When my stomach’s not right, nothing is right. My mind’s not right, I’m just not thinking clear. All I’m thinking bout right now is ‘why does my stomach feel like this?’”

It’s unclear whether his stomach issues were what led him to cancel his show in Auckland, New Zealand, on Friday, Nov. 8, which was expected to be the final performance of the Australia and New Zealand tour.

The show was cancelled on the day of, with Billboard reporting that many fans didn’t even find out until they arrived at the venue.

“Dear Auckland, I’ve done everything I can,” he wrote in his Instagram Stories after the cancellation was announced, per the outlet. “I just can’t shake it. It breaks my heart, I’ve probably missed three shows in the last decade. I pride myself on showing up no matter what. Just couldn’t do it this time. Please forgive me.”

Jelly Roll did not specify why the show was cancelled.

Jelly Roll’s first show in Australia was on Oct. 24, with his final show on Nov. 6. The star appears to be back on this side of the Pacific Ocean as he’s set to return to the stage in Mexico City on Saturday, Nov. 15.
