Although still unconfirmed officially by Kensington Palace, it is believed the 12-year-old prince will be going to Eton College in September 2026 for the next stage of his education, following in the footsteps of his father.
While William did not specifically mention Eton College in this new interview, he did mention one thing that may change for his eldest son when the move to secondary school arrives next year.
This is the fact that George may be able to have a phone for the first time ever, with Prince William and Princess Kate currently having a strict rule in place that means their three children don’t yet have phones of their own.
Speaking in the new interview in Brazil, William said: “It is really hard. Our children don’t have phones.”
He continued: “When George moves onto secondary school, maybe he’ll have one with limited access.
“We talk to him and explain why we don’t think it’s right. With full access, children end up seeing things on the internet that they shouldn’t. But with restricted access, I think it’s good for messaging.”
At the moment, all three of Prince William and Princess Kate’s children – Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis – live with them at home, and always have done.
However, if George attends Eton, he will be a boarder, which means he will no longer be seeing his parents daily as he has done. This may mean William and Kate provide him with a phone so they can keep in touch with their eldest son as he becomes more independent.
