The Grateful Dead‘s 60th anniversary celebration is extending into 2026 with a major art show dedicated to the San Francisco jam band.

Presented by the Psychedelic Arts and Culture Trust, “60 Years of the Grateful Dead” will feature six decades of artwork that have been key to the group’s legacy, including some of its iconic posters and album covers that helped define the psychedelic era.

The works are scheduled to be on view at the Chambers Project Gallery in Grass Valley from Dec. 6 through June 1.

“These are the holy grails of Grateful Dead art,” curator Brian Chambers told the Chronicle. “The original hand drawn concert posters and paintings reveal the artist’s details, decisions and corrections that reproductions can never capture.”

Highlights of the show include historic acid test posters; Bill Walker’s “Anthem of the Sun” mandala, which was made for the cover of the Dead’s sophomore album of the same name; and the original 1900 “Skeleton Amidst Roses” illustration by Victorian artist Edmund J. Sullivan. The latter was adapted by artists Alton Kelley and Stanley Mouse, known as Mouse and Kelley, for 1971’s “Skull and Roses” album cover.
