Bang & Olufsen’s story began with an innovative radio design in 1925. One hundred years later, the luxury audio brand marked its centennial anniversary with an event honoring its legacy of craftsmanship and audio-visual storytelling. Held on Thursday at the Royal Danish Opera House in Copenhagen, the celebration brought together 250 esteemed guests for a tribute to a century of sound and design excellence. Founded by Danish engineers Peter Bang and Svend Olufsen, the company has grown from a small farmhouse workshop into a global leader in audio technology.

During the party, as dusk settled over the harbor, guests were greeted with a live performance by Italian pianist and composer Alberto Bof. Inside, dinner unfolded beneath the venue’s sculptural ceilings, where Bang & Olufsen CEO Kristian Teär reflected on the founders’ guiding principle: “a never-failing will to create only the best.” The evening continued with an intimate performance by acclaimed Danish artist Christopher before guests ascended to the transformed “Elevated Club” on the fourth floor where MØ and Mel C, a.k.a.“Sporty Spice” of The Spice Girls, delivered sets to close out the night.
The milestone celebration also served as the debut of The Centennial Collection, a limited-edition series reimagining three of Bang & Olufsen’s most iconic products: the Beoplay H100 headphones, the Beosound A5 portable speaker, and the Beosound A9 home speaker. Each piece draws from the company’s rich design heritage, such as the 1950s checkered textures, 1970s-inspired color palettes, and 1980s brushed-aluminum finishes.
From its earliest radios to today’s modern sound systems, Bang & Olufsen has spent a century redefining how people experience music, design, and technology at home. Thursday’s fête not only honored this vibrant legacy but also signaled the start of Bang & Olufsen’s next chapter, one that is rooted in the same values that shaped its beginning.
