“Inauguration Day” draws from Hampton’s experience attending a predominantly white school during Obama’s 2009 inauguration and follows as “a well-meaning celebration spirals into chaos as students clash and alliances shift.” Harris, who recently starred in Tyler Perry’s “Joe’s College Road Trip” for Netflix, plays Frederick, “an outsider navigating crushes, identity and the need to belong,” who is at the center of the fracas. Crews plays Frederick’s larger-than-life dad, Anthony, who “turns up the heat” on the situation.
