Willie Nelson, 92, has been one of the biggest names in country music for decades, and he’s widely hailed as a national treasure. His distinct voice is instantly recognizable, and his music has a way of getting straight to your heart. And if you’ve ever heard his son, Lukas Nelson sing? Then you know he sounds almost exactly like his famous father, and it’s clear the musical genes were passed down to his generation.
At 36 years old, Lukas is a star in his own right, and over the past months, he’s been captivating audiences with his incredible sound on his “American Romance” tour.
He just wrapped things up with a final show in Los Angeles, and he shared a new post on Instagram on November 14 to commemorate the occasion.
He captioned the photo with:
“Had our last show of the #AmericanRomance tour in LA this week with some great friends! Thank you to everyone who came out for a show. It’s been a special year, and I’m so grateful for your support.”
Fans were quick to congratulate him on such a big achievement. One person said, “Congratulations on such a successful tour! I’m so glad I was able to catch a show! 🙌🏻❤️👏”
Another fan added, “What a run! Congrats to the whole crew. Sure was fun hearing from friends along the way, sharing pics and stories. Time for y’all to enjoy the stillness now and decompress. 😊”
And someone else chimed in with, “Incredible, Lukas! Congrats, friend! Enjoy your rest and the pups!”
Others who were fortunate enough to catch one of his shows remarked on how great they were, with one saying, “Thanks for the fabulous, fun, and touching Halloween night in Denver. All the feels. Thanks, Lukas. ❤️🔥👏🏼☺️”
Lukas Nelson and Willie Nelson Just Made History
Nominations for this year’s Grammy awards were announced on November 7, and everyone was surprised when both Willie Nelson and Lukas Nelson were nominated in the same category: Best Traditional Country Album.
Willie is nominated for “Oh What a Beautiful World,” and Lukas is nominated for “American Romance.”

This is the first time a father and son are nominated in the Best Traditional Country Album category, and the second time in Grammy history a father and son are nominated in the same category in general.
In 1998, Julio Iglesias and father Enrique Iglesiaswere nominated for Best Latin Pop Album.
Whether or not one of the Nelsons takes home the Grammy remains to be seen, but they’re both clearly very strong contenders.
Nelson also recently blew fans away with an amazing cover of Neil Young‘s “Unknown Legend,” which he performed with artist Sierra Ferrell.
“American Romance” might be Lukas’ debut album, but it’s obvious his career is just getting started. Given how incredible this first album is, we can only imagine how many beautiful songs from him will grace country music going forward.
His dad must be so unbelievably proud and excited, just like the rest of his fans are.
