Jonas Brothers Tease New 5SOS Surprise

Two months after the Jonas Brothers brought out 5 Seconds of Summer as the surprise guest at their Inglewood, California tour stop, the bands are once again joining forces for something exciting, something fans are dying to hear, and something top secret — for now.

On Friday, November 14, 5SOS — Luke Hemmings, Calum Hood, Michael Clifford and Ashton Irwin — dropped their highly-anticipated sixth album, Everyone’s A Star, on which they take the boy band stereotype and turn it on its head, both embracing the label and invoking conversation about how it’s problematic (“Love me when I’m skinny and we never ever age,” Hood sings on the aptly named “Boyband”).

Several hours after the album dropped, the Jonas Brothers — themselves, of course, frequently labeled as a boy band — took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to share a photo with 5SOS, captioning the post with a coy “👀” emoji.

Fans immediately got what can only be described as the zoomies, posting everything from their initial reactions — “This is my superbowl,” one user wrote — to every theory as to what the surprise could be: Could the Jonas Brothers bring out 5SOS as a special guest at one of their NYC-area shows next week? Are we getting some kind of 5SOS x JoBros “Boyband” collaboration?

Joe Jonas — who, along with brothers Kevin and Nick, just celebrated the release of their A Very Jonas Christmas Movie on Friday — only further fueled the speculation on Saturday, November 15, in a sassy response to a fan.

“i’m going to need 5sos or the brothers to tell us what the f*** is going on,” the X user begged.

“make me,” Joe quipped in response.

Only time — or the Jonas Brothers or 5SOS themselves — will tell!
