King Charles III received lots of love when he turned 77 years old on Friday, November 14 — but not from daughter-in-law Meghan Markle.
Prince William and Princess Kate, both 43, started the morning with birthday wishes on their official Instagram Story, while the royal celebrated with a “special birthday surprise” — a group sang “Happy Birthday, Your Majesty” and presented him with a cake — during a visit to Cyfarthfa Castle in Wales, alongside Queen Camilla.
Other well-wishers included heads of state, his various patronages, the newly knighted David Beckham and Piers Morgan.
“Thank you for the kind words and well wishes on His Majesty’s Birthday,” a caption on the royal family’s Instagram post read.
But not everyone commemorated his milestone, including Prince Harry’s wife. While it’s possible the As Ever founder sent her father-in-law a very special, flower sprinkle-dusted package in private, Markle, 44, didn’t acknowledge his special day on her official Instagram account.

Charles — who nicknamed Meghan “Tungsten” because of her strength and resilience under scrutiny, Katie Nicholl wrote in The New Royals — famously walked the Duchess of Sussex down the aisle at her 2018 wedding to Prince Harry when her own father, Thomas Markle, couldn’t make it.
As Star previously reported, the monarch actually urged his daughter-in-law to make amends with Thomas.
