Awards season has kicked off in a fittingly stylish fashion.
The Governors Awards took place in Los Angeles on Sunday evening, with the who’s who of Hollywood suiting up to celebrate honorees Debbie Allen, Tom Cruise, Wynn Thomas, and Dolly Parton for their lifetime achievement in cinema and exceptional contributions to the state of motion picture arts and sciences.

The looks at the Honorary Oscars this year were pretty classic, with the majority of the A-listers opting for the fail-safe black suit and timeless timepieces by the likes of Cartier and Chopard. Some gents—well, two Jeremys, at least—bucked the sartorial status quo and eschewed the customary accessories, though. Jeremy Strong skipped the black entirely, pairing an olive Louis Vuitton suit with a contrasting burgundy Richard Mille RM 16-02 Automatic Extraflat. Jeremy Allen White also wore Louis Vuitton, balancing the casualness of an almost fully unbuttoned bib shirt with the elegance of the house’s new Monterey watch.
Below are the best watches we saw at the 2025 Governors Awards.

Jacob Elordi: Cartier Tank à Guichets
Jacob Elordi: Cartier Tank à Guichets
Jacob Elordi nailed the red-carpet attire, pairing a slightly dramatic Bottega Veneta look with a gorgeous Cartier Tank à Guichets. This Art Deco icon was first released as a limited edition in 1928, then revived twice in the late ‘90s and again earlier this year with four modern iterations. Elordi is wearing the platinum limited edition. The 24.8 mm newcomer has the crown at 12 o’clock like the original, the jumping hour aperture at 10 o’clock, and the minutes at 4 o’clock. Limited to 200, the piece costs $61,000.
Jeremy Strong: Richard Mille RM 16-02 Automatic Extraflat
Jeremy Strong: Richard Mille RM 16-02 Automatic Extraflat
Jeremy Strong made a strong sartorial choice, pairing an olive Louis Vuitton ensemble with a bold burgundy Richard Mille. Released only in January, the RM 16-02 Automatic Extraflat features a, you guessed it, extra-flat rectangular case that sets it apart from the other tonneau-shaped watches in the Swiss watchmaker’s lineup. The skeletonized movement (Caliber CRMA9) measures just 4.12 mm, making the $156,000 timepiece svelte but striking on the wrist.
Dwayne Johnson: Chopard Alpine Eagle 41
Dwayne Johnson: Chopard Alpine Eagle 41
Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson rocked some gorgeous Chopard bling on the red carpet, pairing a steel Alpine Eagle timepiece with a diamond-encrusted white-gold necklace from the L’Heure du Diamant Collection and two matching iced-out white-gold rings from the Ice Cube collection. The watch features a 41 mm case in an exclusive, ultra-resistant, light-reflecting metal named Lucent Steel and a gray dial inspired by the iris of the eagle. It retails for $17,000.
Rami Malek: Cartier Tank Française
Rami Malek: Cartier Tank Française
Red velvet, Cartier, and diamonds: Rami Malek knows how to do black-tie attire right. The actor sported a small but sparkly Tank Française watch featuring a 21.2 mm steel case set with 22 diamonds and a silvered sunray dial topped with blued-steel sword-shaped hands. He also wore a diamond-set Juste un Clou tie pin and ring. The wrist candy will set you back $9,350.
Jeremy Allen White: Louis Vuitton Monterey
Jeremy Allen White: Louis Vuitton Monterey
Jeremy Allen White opted for head to toe—or wrist, rather—Louis Vuitton, pairing a white shirt and black trousers with the new Monterey watch. Released earlier this year, the limited edition takes design cues from the LV I and LV II that the French fashion house debuted in 1988, featuring the same pebble-like, lugless case and 12 o’clock crown, as well as a classic white grand feu enamel dial with red and blue railroad minute tracks, black Arabic indices, and the signature skeletonized-syringe hands in red lacquer. The modern successor is equipped with an automatic calibre (LFTMA01.02) produced in-house at La Fabrique du Temps, though. Limited to 188 pieces, the Monterey retails for $53,000.
