A royal wedding is on the cards for the coming months as another sweet engagement has taken place. Prince Johannes Oettingen-Wallerstein, from the House of Oettingen, proposed to his girlfriend, Luisa Textor, while in Japan for a family wedding, according to reports.
The engagement, which saw Johannes ask for his girlfriend’s hand in marriage with a stunning sapphire ring, has been celebrated on social media by Johannes’ father, Prince Carl Eugen zu Oettingen-Wallerstein.
The proud dad wrote on Instagram: “And suddenly she says yes! Our son @johannesow and @luisatxt got engaged in Kyoto.”
He continued: “We are so incredibly happy for them both – for their courage, their shared ‘yes,’ and for everything that lies ahead.
“All the very best to you both. May life fulfil your promises – and perhaps even a little more. Hugs!”
While not a very well-known royal, Johannes is part of the House of Oettingen, described as a high-ranking noble family from Franconia and Swabia that ruled various estates between the 12th century and the beginning of the 19th century, as reported by Tatler.
He is the grandson of the current head of the dynasty.
It is believed that no date for the wedding has yet been set by the couple.
While Prince Carl Eugen zu Oettingen-Wallerstein may have shared his son’s happy news on his own Instagram, it is not known whether the couple did so on their accounts, which are both set on private.
