After an absolutely eye-popping Season 2 of Peacock’s original Twisted Metal in August, fans eagerly awaited confirmation for the next season. Rightly so, without any delay, Peacock sealed the show’s fate: Season 3 is happening soon!
Clocking 993 million minutes of watch time, Season 2 became the “second highest-reaching original returning scripted season”. The post-credit scenes also hinted at something ambitious for the upcoming journey – probably a full-blown Insider and Outsider battle. However, the direction the series will take from this point remains unclear, especially with the recent changes behind the scenes.
Michael Jonathan Smith, who was involved as the showrunner and executive producer for the first two seasons, is departing his ways from the show. In his place, David Reed – known for his work in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and The Boys- has joined the project.
Twisted Metal is based on the classic PlayStation game series. It sees a motor-mouthed outsider who gets a chance to better his life if he succeeds in delivering a mysterious parcel across a post-apocalyptic wasteland. Accompanied by a car thief, he embarks on this dangerous quest. The cast features Anthony Mackie as John Doe, Stephanie Beatriz as Quiet, Saylor Bell as Mayhem, and more.
Season 1 and 2 of Twisted Metal are available to stream on Peacock.
