All Time Low adores Boston, and they’re ‘so excited’ to be back for sold-out shows

From surprise performances with an internet famous baseball team and music festivals to announcing a new tour and album, All Time Low has had a pretty exciting run this year.

The popular punk rock band kicked off their world tour in October and sold out several shows in the process, including their Boston show.

However, due to popular demand, All Time Low added a second show in the city as well as New York. Frontman Alex Gaskarth told MassLive his band has been feeling the love from fans ever since the tour started.

“The tour’s been awesome. We’re playing songs from every era of All Time Low and it feels like the show has something for everyone, old fans and new,” the singer said. “The new songs have been a highlight — people are popping off in the pit.”

All Time Low, which formed in 2003, has earned multiple gold and platinum certified singles and albums. Perhaps best known for their debut single, “Dear Maria, Count Me In,” the band has notched five top 10 entries on the Billboard 200 chart, including “Nothing Personal” (2009), “Dirty Work” (2011), “Don’t Panic” (2012), “Future Hearts” (2015) and “Last Young Renegade” (2017).

All Time Low dropped the band’s latest album, “Everyone’s Talking” on Oct. 17. The 15-track project serves as a follow-up to the group’s 2023 effort, “Tell Me I’m Alive.”

“Sugar,” one of the tracks on the album, is a collaboration with Foxborough native and chart-topping singer JoJo. Gaskarth said this collaboration was “a long time coming,” despite All Time Low and JoJo having distinctly different sounds.

“We’d known each other for years, but never thought to do something together because we both creatively existed in different worlds,” Gaskarth explained. “But when we wrote ‘Sugar,’ I knew she would be perfect for it, and thankfully she was down to be a part of it. She elevated the song so much.”

All Time Low will perform at MGM Music Hall Fenway in Boston on Nov. 22 and Nov. 23. Gaskarth said Boston feels like “a second home” to All Time Low because their longtime lighting guy and one of their former aux players are both from Boston.

“Every time we rolled through it felt like a friends and family event, and that’s stuck with us over the years,” the musician added.

All Time Low held a pop-up show at Cisco Brewers in Fenway the last time the group was in Boston. The band performed a roughly 45-minute acoustic set, marking the first-ever pop-up show at the venue. Songs on the band’s setlist included “The Weather,” “Something’s Gotta Give,“ “Monsters” and “Damned If I Do Ya (Damned If I Don’t).” During the show, the band debuted their new single “Oh No!,” which was officially released the following Friday.

“We wanted to do something special for our Boston fans because they’ve always been so good to us,” Gaskarth said. “We thought it was a cool way to hype the second show announcement by being there in person and sharing that moment with everyone.”

Before that, All Time Low took the Green Stage on the Saturday of Boston Calling in May. Gaskarth performed with his band before later joining pop punk idol Avril Lavigne for a rendition of their 2023 duet, “Fake As Hell.”

“Avril is the best. We became friends through our manager and that grew into a lasting friendship which led to us deciding it was time to make something together,” Gaskarth said. “She’s one of the most talented people I’ve met — just a natural star and an incredible singer.”

All Time Low has had a couple cameos this year on top of this special Boston Calling performance. The punk band teamed up with the Savanna Bananas at Camden Yards in Baltimore for a performance of “Dear Maria, Count Me In” back in August. Shortly after that, All Time Low performed the hit song with the Jonas Brothers at a show in Bristow, Virginia, on the “Jonas20: Greetings from Your Hometown Tour.”

“They called us the day before the show and asked if we’d be down to make it happen,” Gaskarth said. “I think this many years down the line, it’s just fun to collaborate on things and work with people you’ve known for years but never had the chance to actually collaborate with.”
