Country music star Mickey Guyton has had a stellar year. And, with a part in Hallmark’s A Grand Ole Opry Christmas and the release of her new Christmas album right before the upcoming holidays, it should only get better.
She also admitted that, thanks to the infectious delight of her preschooler, she’s excited for the festivities in a way she hadn’t been in a while.
“I have a 4-year-old son now, and Christmas has now started becoming magical for me again,” the Grammy-nominated singer told Us Weekly. “The older you get, it’s just a holiday you get to spend with your family, and traveling sucks, and it’s so hard. But now that my son is 4, the holiday season means so much more now.”
Feels Like Christmas was officially released on October 24, but with danceable, happy songs like Sugar Cookie and Mistletoe Kisses, now is definitely a great time to put it in the rotation. However, for those looking for nostalgic songs, it’s best to look elsewhere.
“Christmas is one of those holidays that can be either very cheerful or a reminder of what is lost,” the Make It Me singer said. “And I didn’t want to do that. I just wanted to bring uplifting messages to people.”
“I just wanted something upbeat,” she explained. “You know, 2025 has been a pretty heavy year for a lot of people, and I’m not trying to discount that, but for my mental capacity, I needed something really positive for me. That’s how I’ve been able to cope with so much going on. And so that was my motivation: I just want people to feel light, just to feel good for a minute.”
The album contains eight songs, including a duet with Michael Bolton and a cover of the Frozen tune “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?” As for Guyton, there are at least two songs that will be on a loop in her home.
“Definitely ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You,’ Mariah Carey,” she proclaimed. “That song is the season every year, forever. That song and “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree,” Brenda Lee — those are the two songs you want to hear every Christmas.”
