Oscar Isaac’s Recent Comments Cast Doubt On His Marvel Future

While promoting his new film “Frankenstein,” actor Oscar Isaac made it pretty clear that he wasn’t very happy with Disney after they pulled Jimmy Kimmel from the air earlier this year. Although  many equated his return to a galaxy far, far away, there’s another Disney franchise that Isaac is involved in. He played the titular Moon Knight in the Disney+ series, which, although beloved by fans, did not get a second season.

Will There Ever Be A ‘Moon Knight’ Season 2?

Although there was a lot of love for “Moon Knight” when it was first released in 2022, it seems that it is unlikely that fans will ever see a second season. Marvel Television head Brad Winderbaum told ComicBook back in February that although priorities have shifted, there are still plans to see Moon Knight in the future.

“So I think Marvel Television has happened in waves, and I think Moon Knight happened in a wave of shows that were going to establish characters that would tie-in to the future,” Winderbaum explained.

He continued, “And moving forward our priorities have shifted. We’re making shows as shows that can exist as annual releases, more like television. I would love to see a Moon Knight Season 2, but there are plans for Moon Knight down the road.”

Oscar Isaac Says He’s ‘Not So Open To Working With Disney’

While speaking to GQ to promote his new movie “Frankenstein,” the actor discussed possibly returning to a galaxy far, far away. He portrayed Resistance pilot and leader Poe Dameron in 2015’s “The Force Awakens,” 2017’s “The Last Jedi,” and 2019’s “The Rise of Skywalker.” So far, it appears that Disney has no plans to bring his character back into the post-sequel space, although there is a movie starring Daisy Ridley’s Rey in the works.

When asked about returning to the Star Wars franchise, he said that he would be “open to it,” although he went on to add, “Although right now I’m not so open to working with Disney.”

He continued, “But if they can kinda figure it out and, you know, not succumb to fascism, that would be great… if that happens, then yeah, I’d be open to having a conversation about a galaxy far away.”

Jimmy Kimmel Was Pulled From The Air Following Charlie Kirk’s Death

Isaac seems to be referring to when Jimmy Kimmel was pulled off the air in mid-September. During his September 15 broadcast, the late-night host said, “We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang trying to characterize this kid who killed Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them.”

ABC decided to suspend “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” for several days following his remarks. When Kimmel did finally return to the air, he addressed the controversy directly. Although he has remained on the air, U.S. President Donald Trump has called Kimmel a “bum” and repeatedly urged ABC to fire him and cancel his show.

Oscar Isaac Apologizes For His Viral ‘Star Wars’ Quote

In 2020, Isaac told Deadline that he would “probably” never return to a galaxy far, far away “unless I need another house or something.” The comment went viral, and many Star Wars fans were disappointed with the apparent suggestion that Isaac had only been involved in the production for the paycheck.

While speaking to GQ, Isaac looked back at his past remarks. “Yeah. That was a real likable quote. Jesus Christ,” Isaac told the publication. “Y’know, people ask you things, you say stuff, you don’t really think about it that much. I said a slightly dickish thing.”

John Boyega Says Finn and Poe Will Only Return In A Movie

Although John Boyega has been critical of the franchise and the way Disney treated his character, Finn, he has been open to returning to a galaxy far, far away. However, he does have one condition.

At Liverpool Comic Con, he said he’d love to work with Isaac again, but he only wants to see Finn and Poe unite on the big screen. “Me and Oscar are very stubborn and we believe the bromance should only be on the big screen,” he joked.

In the comments, fans were enthusiastic about the idea. “Honestly, Finn and Poe deserved way more,” one user wrote. “If they bring that energy back to the screen, I’m all in.”
