It has been three years since Florida Georgia Line split up, but it feels like the duo’s reunion is inevitable.
There seems to be a headline or two every couple months about speculation of a reunion, and after Wednesday night’s CMA Awards, there is renewed belief among their fans that they could be getting the band back together.
Why is that?
Well, the two — Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard make up Florida Georgia Line — were photographed standing together and smiling during the show. Things have not always been as friendly between them since the split.
Whiskey Riff said there was speculation that political differences back during the 2020 election — Hubbard was a Joe Biden guy, and Kelley was a Donald Trump guy — contributed to their split.
The majority of Whiskey Riff’s piece on the two potentialy getting back together is speculation based off the friendly photo, and a second where they even included their wives. So, there’s not much concrete there in terms of a reunion.
Despite their chilly separation, though, Kelley did say earlier this year that he would not rule out getting back together with Hubbard.
“I will say, when these conversations started happening about extra outlets, the heart of where I was coming from was really having everything stay the same and stay together and also intertwine our solo stuff,” Kelley said of the split. “I didn’t see, personally, for me, a need for a break or a reason to stop. Unfortunately, we couldn’t really get on the same page of what that looked like — we’re both chasing separate dreams, but you never know how it may circle back.”
Hubbard however sounded a bit different when he spoke about the idea.
“It was a cool season of life,” and I wouldn’t trade it for the world,” he said of his Florida Georgia Line days. “But I don’t want it back. I’m in away different place, and I wouldn’t trade it.”
Fans were buzzing earlier this year, too, when the duo dropped a new EP — “Deep Cuts & Lost Tracks, Vol. 1.”
That hit streaming platforms on June 18, and although none of the songs were new titles, fans couldn’t help but wonder if it was a tease that the boys were getting back together.
When it comes to musical acts, never say never, but the duo have yet to indicate that they will be working together anytime soon.
