Team Swift?
Fans are convinced that Toni Braxton is taking Taylor Swift’s side in a possible back-and-forth between Swift and Travis Kelce’s ex-girlfriend, Kayla Nicole. Many Swifties are fairly certain that Swift took a swipe at Nicole in her song “Opalite” and many also believe that Nicole responded when she recreated Braxton’s music video for her hit song “He Wasn’t Man Enough” for Halloween.
During a recent interview on Entertainment Tonight, Braxton was asked about Nicole’s video — which she seemed to like. However, when she was asked about the recreation as a possible response to Swift’s song, well, let’s just say that Braxton’s response got Swifties talking.
“I like to think that she was just paying homage to me and did it for Halloween,” Braxton said at first. However, after ET’s Kevin Frazier explained the story to her, she had a different reaction.
“Oh that’s bitter,” Braxton said.
For reference, Swift’s song features a line that reads, “You couldn’t understand it, why you felt alone/You were in it for real, she was in her phone and you were just a pose.” Some people think this was Swift’s way of calling out Nicole for using Kelce for clout — allegedly.
Those familiar with the lyrics of Braxton’s song may have pulled out specific lines that could be the perfect response to a Swift diss.
“Don’t you know that he was my man?/But I chose to let him go/So why do you act like I still care about him?” reads Braxton’s lyrics.
Many Swift fans took Braxton’s comment to mean that she was on Swift’s side by calling Nicole — or rather Nicole’s antics — “bitter.”
“She’s on Taylor’s side. That’s hilarious,” one person wrote.
“Oh Toni is a Swiftie,” someone else said.
“She is on Taylor side as she should,” a third comment read.
“She def is a Taylor fan,” a fourth TikTok user added.
Prior to her interview on ET, Braxton actually commented on Nicole’s video, writing “You killed it mama.”
