Bollywood veteran actor Dharmendra passed away on November 24, 2025 after battling health issues for several weeks. His family members like Hema Malini, Esha Deol and others were spotted heading towards the crematorium grounds on Monday. Many Bollywood celebrities like Karan Johar and others took to social media to pay tribute and celebrate Dharmendra’s grand life and legacy. Here’s how the industry reacted to Dharmendra’s death.

Producer and filmmaker, Karan Johar, who recently worked with Dharam ji in the film Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, took to Instagram to post a heartfelt message for the late actor.
In the caption, he wrote, “It is an end of an ERA….. a massive mega star… the embodiment of a HERO in mainstream cinema… incredibly handsome and the most enigmatic screen presence … he is and will always be a bonafide Legend of Indian Cinema… defining and richly present in the pages of cinema history … but mostly he was the best human being… he was so loved by everyone in our industry …. He only had immense love and positivity for everyone … his blessings, his hug and his incredible warmth will be missed more than words can describe …. Today there is a gaping hole in our industry … a space that can never be filled by anyone … there will always be the one and only DHARAMJI… we love you kind Sir…. We will miss you so much…. Bollywood actress Kajol took to her Instagram page to post a picture of Dharmendra with her son Yug. in the caption, she wrote, “The OG of the Good Man is gone and the world is poorer for it.. somehow it seems like we are only losing the good people in it. Kind to the core and loved always . RIP Dharamji .. with love always 💔”

Ace fashion designer Manish Malhotra shared a picture of himself with Dharmndra from the sets of Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.
In the caption, he wrote, “RIP Legendary Dharamji .. Dharmendra was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai a couple of weeks ago, prompting concern from the film fraternity and his fans alike. He was also put on a ventilator.
Many Bollywood stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Aryan Khan, Govinda, Ameesha Patel and others were seen at the premises of the hospital to meet the 89-year-old star.
Dharmendra’s hospitalisation also prompted circulation of the fake news of his death then. His family members like Hema Malini and Esha Deol had slammed Indian media for not verifying facts and publishing fake news irresponsibly.
On the work front, Dharmendra’s last appearance will be in the movie Ikkis that stars Agastya Nanda in the lead role. The poster of the film featuring the late actor was released on the day of his demise. The caption read, “Fathers raise sons. Legends raise nations. Dharmendra ji, an emotional powerhouse as the father of a 21-year-old immortal soldier. One timeless legend brings us the story of another.”
