Johnson Wen—who rushed Ariana Grande at the Wicked: For Good premiere at Universal Studios in Singapore on November 13—was sent home to Australia on Sunday and is not allowed back to Singapore, according to several news sources.

BBC News, NBC News, CBS News, and ABC News have all reported that Wen has been deported, sent home to Australia, and “barred from re-entering Singapore,” citing a spokesperson for Singapore’s Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) and local media.

The news of Wen’s deportation comes after he was reportedly sentenced to nine days in jail for being a “public nuisance.” A viral video showed Wen hopping over the celebrity-crowded carpet’s barricade and accosting Grande, putting his arm around her. Grande’s co-star, Cynthia Erivo, instinctively intervened while security rushed to remove Wen, who went for a second attempt.

The “serial intruder” has ambushed other unsuspecting celebrities before. He has pulled the same unsolicited stunt with stars like Katy Perry, The Chainsmokers, The Weeknd, and more. He has also boasted about these ambushes on his social media channels, including Instagram and TikTok, “thanking” the stars for “letting” him do it and bragging about getting away with it.

Wen told NBC Newsthat he was an Ariana Grande “mega fan” who “dreamed about meeting her.” Grande has not spoken about this incident but has previously opened up about dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder after the 2017 bombing at her concert in Manchester, England, which claimed 22 lives.

Social media commenters have shamed Wen, who pleaded guilty, for “retraumatizing” Grande.

While Grande has kept quiet, Erivo told the TODAY Show what was going through her head when it all happened.

“I wasn’t really thinking,” she said of protecting her co-star, whom she has called “kind of like a sister” at this point. “I just wanted to make sure my friend was safe. I’m sure he didn’t mean us harm, but you never know with those things, and I wanted to make sure that she was okay. That was my first instinct.”

Whether or not Wen meant harm, his actions were absolutely unacceptable. And Singapore has rightfully said he’s gotta go.
