Former Crater starts Traore, Winslow help power SOU; Raider men fall to No. 23 Hope International

FULLERTON, Calif. — Southern Oregon’s good work on the defensive end and the offensive glass was enough to finish off a 57-55 win against Hope International (Calif.) on Monday night at Darling Pavilion.

Senior guard Bridgette McIntyre went 4-of-8 from 3 to score 18 points, freshman forward Lydia Traore notched her second straight double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds, and freshman guard Sage Winslow poured in 14 points and six boards as the Raiders (5-3) won for the fifth time in six games.

They survived despite a collective 31% clip from the field — their lowest in a win since the 2023-24 season — by turning 16 offensive rebounds into 15 second-chance points and keeping HIU at 35%.

McIntyre’s last triple put the Raiders up 54-53 with 4:55 remaining, and after a defensive stop Traore finished left-handed in the lane to stretch the lead to three.

The Royals went the last five-plus minutes without a field goal, missing a chance to go in front when Angelina de Leon’s 3-point try hit rim with 13 seconds left. They got the offensive rebound and set up an out-of-bounds play under their own basket with 1.7 seconds on the clock, but Jada Long threw it away.

All three losses for the Royals (3-3) have come against Cascade Conference teams. Nicole Chuang led them with 18 points despite shooting 1-of-8 in the second half.

McIntyre’s outing was her fifth this season with at least four 3-point makes. Traore pulled down six offensive rebounds, helping the Raiders score 11 of their 19 points in the third quarter on second chances. Winslow hit double figures for the fifth time.

Eliza DiGiulio contributed eight points and six rebounds, and Keeley Wright pitched in eight boards, four assists and two steals.

HOPE INTERNATIONAL 87, SOU 79: At Fullerton, Calif., No. 23-ranked Hope International shot 63% in the second half and outscored Southern Oregon by 15 points over the final 10 minutes to win in the HIU Thanksgiving Classic.

Nick Hopkins led six players in double figures with 16 points and nine rebounds for the Royals (6-1), who got even with the Raiders (2-4) after losing a neutral-site matchup between the teams by 22 points just nine days earlier.

SOU guard Gio Evanson’s jumper in the lane knotted the score for the last time at 79-79 with 3:36 left before the Raiders misfired on their last eight field-goal attempts. Elijah Jackson — who went 4-of-7 from 3 with game-highs of 17 points and four assists — got off a pair of contested shots from deep for the tie during the final minute, but both went off the rim.

The Royals took the lead and extended it at the free-throw line, where they hit 11-of-12 down the stretch. They also made all four of their 3-point attempts during the second half and went 9-of-14 for the game.

The Raiders got 13 points from Evanson and 12 from Joe Juhala in their best 3-point display of the season, a 12-of-23 clip that had them up by eight points with just over 12 minutes remaining.

Bryce Dyer contributed seven points and eight rebounds. Jack Chlumak hit both of his 3-pointers to finish with eight points and two steals.
