After another frustrating season, the Los Angeles Angels enter the offseason still searching for answers. Los Angeles missed the playoffs once again, and now it’s been a full decade since the team qualified for the postseason.
Adding insult to injury, the Angels’ farm system is one of the worst across the entire league, and there isn’t a lot of hope for the future. Star outfielder Mike Trout also looks like a shell of his former All-Star self, making life even tougher for the Angels.
As the Angels move forward this offseason, the team may want to move some of the more tradable players on the roster. We just saw the front office trade away outfielder Taylor Ward to the Baltimore Orioles, and this could be the start of a fire sale for the team.
Los Angeles does have a few quality, young guys that could be valuable to other clubs, and this could net the farm system some pieces for the future. One of these players is outfielder Jo Adell, who finally broke out this past season after years of the team waiting on him.
Adell was a top prospect years ago, but he has struggled to find any consistency over the years. But this year, Adell showed everyone why the team was so high on him when he entered the league.
The outfielder slashed .236/.293/.485, with 37 home runs and 98 runs batted in for the Angels this year. Adell was one of the few bright spots for the Halos in 2025, and the team may want to capitalize while his value is high.
Whether he can reproduce this type of performance remains to be seen, making it a smart move for the Angels to move him now. Adell has a few more years of team control as well, so he wouldn’t be a rental for any team that would trade for him.
