Arts & Entertainment at USU: December Events Preview

LOGAN, Utah — December at Utah State University is filled with creativity, celebration and the spirit of the season. From inspiring concerts to dynamic student showcases, this month’s arts events offer something for everyone. Explore the wide range of performances and exhibitions happening across campus. Read below for more details about these coming events, and subscribe to the weekly events reminder email.

Dec. 1–Dec. 10

Tippetts & Eccles Galleries

This exhibition runs November 10-December 10 in the Tippetts & Eccles Galleries. The galleries are open M–F from 9 a.m.–5 p.m.

Dec. 1, 7:30 p.m.

Daines Concert Hall

Concerts are part of the USU band large ensemble curriculum. As capstone events, they typically occur twice per semester. Students are required to participate in these events as a large part of their grades, and these concerts are the culmination of several weeks of classroom rehearsals. All concerts are associated with one or more band ensembles, including the wind orchestra, wind symphony, symphonic band, and marching band courses.

Dec. 2, 7:30 p.m.

Daines Concert Hall

Program full of dance rhythms presented by “the perfect instrument,” the symphony orchestra will take the audience for an enchanting journey through a wide gamut of musical styles and rhythmic flavors. From elegant Baroque Siciliana and Classical Rondo to fiery Italian Tarantella and Danzon straight from Mexico City dance parlors, the orchestra will present a range of colorful musical timbres.

USU faculty Sasha Kasman Laude and Ben Laude join the orchestra for the performance of the famous Mozart’s Concerto.

Dec. 3, 7:30 p.m.

Russell/Wanlass Performance Hall

USU’s Big Band concerts showcase the breadth of our jazz program, featuring the jazz ensemble to open and the jazz orchestra to close, performing an exciting mix of traditional big band tunes.

Dec. 4, 6 & 8:30 p.m.

St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church

This concert features USU Chamber Singers, Chorale and Sapphire Singers Treble Chorus for a holiday performance that makes use of the surrounding acoustics of the St. Thomas Aquinas Church.

Dec. 4, 7 p.m.

Russell/Wanlass Performance Hall

Celebrate the season with festive piano performances by Youth Conservatory students! This cheerful recital features holiday favorites and classical pieces, showcasing the hard work and progress of our young pianists. A perfect way to add a little music to your holiday season!

Dec. 5 & 6, 7:30 p.m.

Black Box Theatre, Chase Fine Arts Center

An evening of 10-minute plays directed by students in USU Theatre’s Directing I class.

Daines Concert Hall

The Tri-State Band Symposium is an Honor Band experience for the Tri-State’s finest wind and percussion players and their directors. Annually hosting around 150 of the finest wind and percussion players from the region’s finest high schools, this event has attracted students and directors from Utah, Idaho, Nevada, Wyoming and Colorado. It features internationally-recognized clinicians as well as the finest performers from Utah State.

Nora Eccles Harrison Museum of Art

Composing the West: Colonialism and the Myths of Manifest Destiny is curated by USU music students. This concert will consider the exhibition “Exploding Native Inevitable” in light of the concept of Manifest Destiny and theories of colonialism. Through this, students will craft a response to the artworks on show using an eclectic array of musical works.

Nora Eccles Harrison Museum of Art

Join us at the Nora Eccles Harrison Museum of Art for our Mini Makers class, a toddler art exploration experience. Caregivers and toddlers ages 2-5 experience art through singing, playing, moving, and making. The program is $5/child and prior registration is required.

Daines Concert Hall

Kick off “the most wonderful time of the year” with our most anticipated concert of the season, which has become one of Cache Valley’s favorite family traditions. This year’s special guest is David Osmond, along with the beloved Westminster Bell Choir. We are thrilled to delight audiences with an unforgettable musical celebration featuring popular and traditional holiday favorites, festive decorations, and a few surprises that are sure to brighten the holiday season.

Dec. 12, 7:30 p.m.

Morgan Theatre

First produced in December of 2024 as a fundraiser for the Lyric Repertory Company, this remounting is an extended version for those who were unable to join us last year or for those who may want to see it again. Based on the book by beloved historian, F. Ross Peterson, this adaptation by Mary Heers stars Richie Call as Young Ross.

Dec. 13, 10 a.m.

Nora Eccles Harrison Museum of Art

You’re invited to NEHMA’s Community Art Day inspired by Horse (1972), a painting by Rex Walter on view in Repainting the I: The Intermountain Intertribal Indian School Murals exhibit through January 17, 2026. Horses hold deep significance in Navajo (Diné) culture—used for travel, herding, ceremony, and celebration. Walter’s painting honors this powerful relationship and the vital role horses continue to play in Diné life.

Dec. 15, 6:30 p.m.

Daines Concert Hall

Cache Children’s Choir invites you to a musical celebration of the holiday season in the beautiful Daines Concert Hall.
