Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly Prince Andrew, will spend the holidays at Royal Lodge in Windsor before relocating to Sandringham in 2026.
The former Duke of York, 65, will not join the Royal Family at the King’s private estate in Norfolk this Christmas.
A royal aide told The Daily Mail that his presence during the festive season would be seen as “suboptimal,” given the sensitivity of the situation.
Senior royals traditionally gather at Sandringham for Christmas Eve and attend church together the following morning.
In October, Buckingham Palace announced the King’s decision to remove Andrew’s remaining royal titles and arrange his move from Royal Lodge, where he has lived for over three decades.
Sandringham, a private royal estate owned by the monarch, was selected for the relocation in part to avoid public funds.
Andrew’s current home, Royal Lodge, is Crown Estate property, meaning his below-market rent drew additional criticism.
Officials also emphasized that Andrew’s new residence will not be publicly disclosed due to security concerns.
Andrew stepped down from public life following his ties to Jeffrey Epstein.
His exclusion from official royal events has continued since.
With this move, his last visible link to royal privilege, the Royal Lodge, will eventually come to an end.
