Dominic McLaughlin, set to star in HBO’s reimagined Harry Potter universe, is sharing the personal touch of magic that he received from the original series lead, Daniel Radcliffe.
“I got a letter from the man himself, Daniel Radcliffe. It was insane,” McLaughlin said, during a recent interview with the BBC show “Saturday Mash-Up! Live.”
He vividly recalled the moment: “I was on the train back up to Glasgow, because we are going home ― and my dad just tapped me on the train and just gave me this letter. I read it and I got to the bottom, and it said, ‘Dan R.’”
The young actor said he had to “keep it cool” because he thought he was “going mad.”
McLaughlin also stated that the filming of the new series is “going really well.”
“I made good friends with everyone,” he said. “It’s great to be there.”
Earlier this month, during an appearance on “Good Morning America,” Radcliffe revealed he had written to the child actor.
“I wrote to Dominic,” Radcliffe revealed. “I sent him a letter and he sent me a very sweet note back.”
He added that he hopes his legacy won’t overshadow the next generation of witches and wizards.
“I do not want to be, like, a specter in the lives of these children at all,” he stated. “I just wanted to write to him and say, ‘I hope you have the best time and an even better time than I did.’”
