Malayalam actor Dileep has been acquitted in the 2017 sexual assault case, and the news has been receiving various reactions from the film fraternity. Parvathy Thiruvothu, Chinmayi Sripaada, and more have taken to their social media accounts to share their strong views on the matter. Let’s take a look at it.

Actress and filmmaker Parvathy Thiruvothu took to her Instagram Stories and posted, “Avalkoppam (With her) forever.” In her next IG Story, she wrote “Justice What? The government to appeal the verdict

Meanwhile, after the backlash on social media over the court’s decision, Law Minister P. Rajeev stated that he had a word with the CM and the government has decided to appeal the court’s verdict.

AMMA’s statement

On the other hand, the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) has issued a statement that reads, “Let the law move in the path of justice. We respect the court.”For the unversed, the court has convicted the six accused on different charges, while actor Dileep, who was listed as the eighth accused, was acquitted.

WCC’s statement

Meanwhile, the WCC had issued a statement before the judgement: “This has not been an easy journey. The journey of being a victim to becoming a survivor. 3215 days of waiting for justice.”It further read, “Her fight has unleashed many tumultuous journeys for women in cinema, the Malayalam film industry, and the state of Kerala. The impact has rippled through our collective conscience, and voices have risen for change.”The statement concluded with, “Much has to be said for the courage and resilience she has shown through it all, while upholding her faith in the system.”
