“Every Year After” showrunner has a 5-season plan for the series

LOS ANGELES — Awards season has officially begun with Monday’s announcement of the 83rd Golden Globe nominations.

This year, Paul Thomas Anderson’s “One Battle of Another” earned nine nominations, while Ryan Coogler’s vampire hit “Sinners” was nominated for seven awards.

Neon’s “Sentimental Value” was nominated for eight awards, including four for its actors.

Here is a collection of reactions provided to Spectrum News following this year’s nominations. Statements have been edited for clarity and brevity.

Ryan Coogler for ‘Sinners’

“My heart is filled with gratitude at the news of the nominations from the Golden Globes. I am honored to be recognized along with Zinzi Coogler, Sev Ohanian, Ludwig Göransson, Raphael Saadiq and the great Michael B. Jordan, who was able to deliver two incredibly layered performances.

‘Sinners’ was a team effort and a family affair. We assembled an impeccable cast and dedicated crew, who are all masters at their craft. The story was built out of a love for my uncle, a passion for the theatrical experience, and an obsession with America’s greatest contribution to global popular culture- Blues music. Thank you to the Golden Globes, to WB, to our cast and crew, and to everyone keeping discussion about our film alive.”

Michael B. Jordan for ‘Sinners’

“Thank you, Golden Globes, and congrats to my ‘SINNERS’ family! This was by far my most challenging and rewarding performance — bringing to life (and death) two distinct brothers in ‘SINNERS.’ We are only here because of the brilliance and relentless fearlessness of Ryan Coogler. It’s a movie about love and loss, and asks us — what is the price of freedom? By recognizing this film, you are honoring our legacy and the legacy of an industry built on bold, original storytelling. THANK YOU.”

Teyana Taylor for ‘One Battle After Another’

“Thank you to the Golden Globes for this honor that has left me speechless and teary-eyed. I’ve dreamed of this for so long, but God’s timing… whew, it hits different. This morning’s call felt like divine confirmation that every step, every lesson, every battle had purpose.

Huge congratulations to every soul who touched ‘ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER.’ The cast, the crew, the creatives, the entire village that made this story come alive.

And most importantly to the legendary PTA… thank you for your vision, trust and brilliance. My gratitude is endless. We love you!”

Leonardo DiCaprio for ‘One Battle After Another’

“I am grateful to be recognized by the Golden Globes alongside my fellow nominees. This film is a testament to the collaboration behind Paul Thomas Anderson’s brilliant vision, the extraordinary work of our cast, and every single person who contributed both in front of and behind the camera on ‘One Battle After Another.’ Thank you again, Golden Globes.”

Producer Emilie Lesclaux and Director and Writer Kleber Mendonca Filho for ‘The Secret Agent’

“Thank you so much to the Golden Globes for this nomination. Historically, this is the first time a Brazilian film has received three nominations, and Wagner becoming the first Brazilian nominated for Best Actor makes us all very happy. I’m so proud to share in this recognition, which places our work among a long list of very prestigious films. […] What an incredible honor to share this with all of you. We cannot thank you enough.”

Tessa Thompson for ‘Hedda’

“It’s an incredible and surreal honor to be nominated alongside these stunning performances and women. Thank you to my inspiration, dear friend and visionary Nia DaCosta for trusting me to be your Hedda, to our amazing collaborators at Amazon MGM Studios/Orion for championing this film, to the talented craftspeople, crew and cast most especially the extraordinary Nina Hoss – my performance is buoyed by all of their brilliance.”

Joachim Trier for ‘Sentimental Value’

“I’m so grateful for the recognition ‘Sentimental Value’ received from the Golden Globes today. These nominations are a testament to the heart and artistry that brought our film to life. I’m proud to share this honor and my warmest congratulations to Stellan, Elle, Inga, Renate and my dear friend and co-writer Eskil Vogt. We set out to make a film about family, reconciliation and the quiet ways art can heal what may feel broken. Thank you to everyone who has embraced us so warmly.”

Chase Infiniti for ‘One Battle After Another’

“My heart is overflowing with excitement and gratitude. Thank you to the Golden Globes for this nomination and for all the love you have shown ‘One Battle After Another.’ I am eternally grateful to Paul Thomas Anderson for his guidance and friendship; this whole journey is because of him. To my ‘One Battle After Another’ family, on screen and off, you continuously inspire me. This film has been the gift of a lifetime, and I feel so blessed.”

Benicio Del Toro for ‘One Battle After Another’

“It’s been 25 years since I was first recognized by the Golden Globes for my work in ‘Traffic,’ and to be here today, all these years later, I am overwhelmed with gratitude to receive this acknowledgement. Thank you, Golden Globes. To Jacob, Paul, Adam, Stellan and my man Sean, I extend my congratulations to you as well, and I’m happy to be in your company in this category.”

Amy Madigan for ‘Weapons’

“I am incredibly moved to be recognized by the Golden Globes today for my work as Aunt Gladys in Zach Cregger’s film ‘WEAPONS,’ and for also recognizing the film in the Box Office & Cinematic Achievement category. To receive this recognition is a true testament to Zach’s original vision, and the work of a truly remarkable filmmaking team, including Leo Satkovich, Jason Collins, and Melizah Wheat who helped bring the look of Gladys to life, along with our costume designer Trish Summerville. This was a team effort, and I couldn’t have done it without them.

I’d love to give a shout-out to all the other women in this category — Emily, Elle, Ariana, Inga and Teyana. They truly represent what women in film are all about.”

Hannah Einbinder for ‘Hacks’

“I’m really honored to receive this nomination because I feel like it’s a recognition not only of my work, but of the work of the 250 artists it takes to make ‘Hacks’ what it is. ‘Hacks’ is about the love you share with the people you make comedy with. I share this equally with every single one of my coworkers, whom I love dearly.”

Comedian Nikki Glaser will return as host when the Golden Globes are handed out on Jan. 11. The show will air on CBS and stream on Paramount+.
