A music legend’s new “docu-concert” is set to make its world premiere in Central New York.

“The Phil Collins Story,” celebrating the life, career and music of Phil Collins, will debut Feb. 3 at the Landmark Theatre in Syracuse, N.Y. The show, chronicling his songs from Genesis to his solo works, will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets go on sale Friday, Dec. 12, at 10 a.m. via Ticketmaster. Prices have not been announced.

According to a press release, “The Phil Collins Story” is a part documentary, part concert experience that pays tribute to Collins “in a way that resonates with audiences through powerful visuals and emotional storytelling. This immersive musical journey features talent from around the world, state-of-the-art audio, dynamic projections, and intricate lighting design.”

The Syracuse event will kick off a 55-city North American tour, which also includes shows Feb. 12-15 in Niagara Falls, Ontario; Feb. 26 in Rochester; and March 1 in Peekskill.

Collins, 74, is considered one of the greatest drummers of all time and was the lead singer of Genesis hits like “Follow You Follow Me,” “I Can’t Dance” and “Invisible Touch.” His solo works include “In the Air Tonight,” “Easy Lover” (with Philip Bailey), “Sussudio,” “Against All Odds (Take a Look at Me Now),” and Disney’s “Tarzan” soundtrack (featuring the Oscar-winning song “You’ll Be in My Heart”).

Collins also performed with Brand X, played drums on “Do They Know It’s Christmas?” for Band Aid, and appeared in films and TV shows like “Miami Vice,” “Hook” and “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.” He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (with Genesis) and the Songwriters Hall of Fame, plus won eight Grammy Awards, two Golden Globes and a Disney Legend Award.

“Phil Collins’ songs are not only global hits but also deeply personal touchstones for millions,” said Jim Lanahan, SVP of Creative Development for Paquin Exhibitions & Theatrical. “We have sourced talent from around the world to honor that legacy in a highly relevant manner.”

“It is truly an honor to collaborate on a project celebrating the music of Phil Collins,” added Dean Elliott, Producer for Maple Tree Entertainment. “His work continues to inspire global audiences, and we’re excited to bring that energy to the stage.”

Collins last performed in 2022 after health issues forced him into retirement. He started using a cane to walk in 2015 after major surgeries on his back and neck, and was later diagnosed with drop-foot, a condition that left him without feeling in one of his feet.

“If I can’t do what I did as well as I did it, I’d rather relax and not do anything,” Collins said in the 2024 documentary, “Phil Collins: Drummer First.” “If I wake up one day and I can hold a pair of drumsticks, then I’ll have a crack at it. But I just feel like I’ve used up my air miles.”
