Pamela Anderson, Liam Neeson turn heads at ‘Naked Gun’ premiere
Pamela Anderson and Liam Neeson cozied up at the London premiere of ‘The Naked Gun’ reboot, fueling romance rumors.
Pamela Anderson is finally revealing the naked truth.
In a new People cover story published Tuesday, Dec. 9, the “Baywatch” star, 58, confirmed that she was romantically involved with her “Naked Gun” costar, Liam Neeson, but shared that they are no longer an item.
“If you must know, Liam and I were romantically involved for a short while but only after we finished filming,” she told the outlet.
Anderson explained that she spent an “intimate week” with Neeson at the “Taken” actor’s New York home, and they went to “dinner at a tiny French restaurant where he introduced me as the ‘future Mrs. Neeson.'”
But after what Anderson described as their “lost week” together, the pair “went our separate ways to work on other films” before reconnecting while promoting “The Naked Gun” over the summer.
“We were having fun,” she said and compared their relationship to a “Nancy Meyers film.”
Ultimately, though, Anderson told People that she and Neeson “are better friends, in full honesty,” adding that they will “always be in each other’s lives.”
Anderson played the romantic interest of Neeson’s character in the slapstick comedy “The Naked Gun,” which hit theaters in August. During the press tour for the film, the pair sparked romance rumors after appearing cozy with one another and sharing a kiss on the cheek at the London premiere.
But Neeson and Anderson played coy about the status of their relationship at the time. When directly asked if they were an item on the “Today” show in July, they avoided giving a direct answer. “I had never met Pamela before,” Neeson said. “We met on set. And we discovered we had a lovely, budding chemistry as two actors.”
Some speculated that the relationship rumors were part of a PR stunt to drum up interest in the movie. Anderson, though, denied this in her People cover story.
“I always was laughing when people thought, ‘Oh, that’s a publicity stunt.’ I’m like, ‘A publicity stunt?’ This is real,” she said. “We have real feelings.”
The “Last Showgirl” actress previously slammed speculation that the relationship was a stunt during a September speech at the 51st Deauville American Film Festival in France.
“I do not and will never feed into PR stunts,” she said. “That would be a death sentence. I’m authentically driven. I’m superstitious when it comes to love. And I’m not comfortable sharing any shred of my romantic life. For as you can see, it is only built up and torn down in days, weeks, months in a media culture that is quick to judge and ruin it.”
