Former California entertainment CEO Mary Carole McDonnell, 73, is currently wanted by the FBI for her alleged involvement in a fraud scheme that caused a loss of roughly $30 million.
Beginning around July 2017, and continuing to May 2018, McDonnell is alleged to have knowingly, and with the intent to defraud, devised and participated in a scheme to obtain money, funds, assets, and property owned by Banc of California, according to the FBI Most Wanted website.
“Through this scheme, McDonnell allegedly and fraudulently obtained a total of approximately $14.7 million from the bank to which she knew she was not entitled and has not paid back,” the page reads.
“It is alleged that McDonnell also defrauded additional financial institutions in a similar fashion, with an estimated loss of over $15 million.”
According to authorities, McDonnell falsely claims to be an heir to the McDonnell Aircraft Family, with an $80 million secret trust to which she will have access.
A federal arrest warrant was issued for McDonnell in Dec. 2018 in the United States District Court for the Central District of California after she was charged with Bank Fraud and Aggravated Identity Theft.
She is known to have ties to Los Angeles, Montgomery, and Dubai, according to the FBI website.
Authorities believe she is currently in Dubai.
Prior to her arrest warrant, McDonnell served as CEO of Burbank production company Bellum Entertainment Group, which has since shut down.
The group produced several well-known true crime shows including “I Married a Murderer” and “It Takes a Killer.”
