The White House’s campaign to promote the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency (ICE) by using liberal-leaning artists’ music in social media posts continues. The latest used SZA’s ‘Big Boy’ – a track originally recorded for TV show Saturday Night Live – in a post that referenced the song’s ‘It’s cuffin’ season’ lyrics.
SZA was quick to respond. “White House rage baiting artists for free promo is PEAK DARK ..inhumanity +shock and aw tactics ..Evil n Boring,” she wrote.
Her comments came in a quote-tweet of similar sentiments from her manager Terrence ‘Punch’ Henderson. “Trying to provoke artist to respond in order to help spread propaganda and political agendas is nasty business. Knock it off,” was his view.
