Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Zootopia 2 will hop past the $1B mark worldwide with today’s business included. The global box office total through Thursday is $986.1M. Of that, $232.7M is from domestic and $753.4M is from the international box office. The Jared Bush/Byron Howard-directed sequel will be the second studio movie to $1B in 2025 (following Disney’s Lilo & Stitch), and becomes the fastest ever to $1B among all Hollywood animated films as well as all PG-rated titles – getting there in just 17 days.
Crossing the threshold also marks the first back-to-back billion-dollar releases for Walt Disney Animation Studios, following last year’s Moana 2. The studio now counts five billion-dollar titles since 2013: Frozen, Frozen 2, Moana 2, Zootopia and Zootopia 2.
