A new animated troupe of anthropomorphic African animals are ready to take over the big screen when Blue Fox Entertainment releases Tafiti: Across the Desert in theaters across the U.S. and Canada on January 30, 2026. Ahead of the cinema launch, Animation Magazine debuts the CG family film’s official trailer.
Rated PG and produced by Germany’s Little Dream Entertainment (The Mucklas, Moonbound, Tehran Taboo), Tafiti is based on the popular German children’s book series by author Julia Boehme, and follows an adventurous meerkat on the quest of his life.
Synopsis: When his grandpa is bitten by a snake, Tafiti, a young meerkat, sets off on an adventure to find the magical flower that will cure him. Bristles, a bush pig, wants to prove that adventures are always better with friends and joins him across the desert.

The English-language voice cast is led by Cosima Henman (Tafiti), Steve Hudson (Bristles), Kathleen Renish (Baba/Pelikan Mama/Elephant/Tree snake) and Jeremiah Costello (Eagle).
Tafiti: Across the Desert is directed by Nina Wels (Latte & the Magic Waterstone, Coconut the Little Dragon), written by Boehme and Nicholas Hause, and produced by Talin Oezbalik, Thomas Springer and Helmut Weber.
