Australian actress Rachael Carpani, who had a breakout role in “McLeod’s Daughters” as Jodi Fountain and had recently worked on “Home And Away,” has died.
The “NCIS: Los Angeles” star was 45.
Carpani’s family turned to Instagram to confirm the unfortunate news on Monday, revealing that the actress had been suffering from a chronic illness.
Sadly, she passed “unexpectedly” on Dec. 7 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.
“It is with great sadness that Tony and Gael Carpani announce that their beautiful daughter, beloved Australian actress Rachael Carpani, unexpectedly but peacefully passed away after a long battle with chronic illness, in the early hours of Sunday 7th December,” the statement said.
Her family also requested privacy at this difficult time.
A private funeral will be held on Dec. 19 and will be attended by only close family and friends.
As of right now, a cause of death or a specific diagnosis of the chronic illness has not been made public.
But there could be a connection regarding the actress’ health challenges, though.
Back in 2021, Carpani mentioned that she had to be transported to the hospital due to abdominal pain and needed surgery for a hidden illness, according to Deadline.
When it comes to the star’s recent work, Carpani had a recurring role in the long-running soap “Home And Away.” She was also in “NCIS: Los Angeles,” A&E network’s “The Glades,” and the Ben Afleck’s basketball movie, “The Way Back.”
