Out of all the positives Luffy’s Gear 5 transformation brought into the One Piece narrative, some fans still managed to find material to diss it, claiming it copied Sarada’s Mangekyo Sharingan from Boruto. At first glance, their claim may seem reasonable enough, given that an animation choice in this Gear 5 form does resemble Sarada’s power-up.
The Naruto and Boruto fandoms have been rivals for years, and usually, Boruto stays on the losing end in most conversations. Coming after Naruto, the series certainly lost much of its vigor. Thus, the claim that One Piece copied Boruto begs the question: Is it true, or is this just fan speculation?
