Anne Hathaway couldn’t help but break down in tears as she received a special message from Whoopi Goldberg on The View.
The Odyssey actress appeared on the daytime talk show’s Monday, July 20, episode alongside her co-star, Matt Damon, and director, Christopher Nolan, when she was taken by surprise by the touching way Goldberg spoke about her career.
“It’s been wonderful watching you,” Goldberg, 70, told the Devil Wears Prada 2 star, 43. “It’s been wonderful watching you grow up. And you have just blossomed, turned into this fabulous actress.”
Hathaway, who is expecting her third child with Adam Shulman, quickly covered her face with her hands as she emotionally exclaimed, “No, don’t!”

“Girl! Yes! Yes! You need to know. You need to know,” The Color Purple star insisted as Hathaway lowered her head to the table to cry. “I’d be crying [even] if I wasn’t pregnant right now!” Hathaway joked through her tears.
Goldberg insisted that even if it was emotional, the praise was “something you need to know and remember,” at which point Hathaway was at a bit of a loss for words. “I don’t even know what to say, you know how I feel about you,” she told Goldberg tearily.
Hathaway was also brought to tears last week on the Today show while promoting The Odyssey when she was presented by host Craig Melvin with a full Odyssey-inspired crochet outfit for her unborn baby.
“I’m dying,” Hathaway said at the time. “This is appropriately epic, thank you so much. This is amazing.”
The Princess Diariesactress, who is also mom to sons Jonathan, 10, and Jack, 6, announced last month that she and Shulman were expanding their family, sharing a video of her baby bump on Instagram with the caption, “x Baby, I’m yours x,” set to the song “Baby, I’m Yours” by Barbara Lewis.
