A unique Christmas music event will take place Saturday, Dec. 20, at the Georgia Square mall in Athens when a large group of tuba players gather for a concert.
The concert begins at 11:30 a.m. Registration begins at 9 a.m. for any tuba players who want to participate. The fee is $15.
The TubaChristmas concerts are part of a nationwide event that began in 1974, when tuba players gathered in New York City’s Rockefeller Plaza.
The concert, according to a Banner-Herald story on a previous concert, includes professional musicians, music teachers, and music students from several schools in the Athens area. In past years, the concert has been performed in the Classic Center.
For those who want to see a large group playing this large brass instrument, Saturday is the day.
