Pop star Miley Cyrus and her partner of four years, Maxx Morando, got engaged in November. A source speaking with Us Magazine says they are planning their wedding and they’re reportedly going in a non-traditional direction.
“Miley is really happy right now and in such a good, calm place,” said the insider. “She’s not super into the idea of doing another wedding.”
The couple will “definitely celebrate in their own way.” As a “very low-key” couple, they are hoping to do “something fun and meaningful that feels very special to them,” per the source.
They added that Cyrus wants to focus on “love” in her relationship rather than the “whole production” of a wedding.
“They have talked about eloping and doing something very private with just the two of them,” the insider continued. “She is embracing this era being engaged and is not in a rush to plan anything.”
Cyrus was married before to actor Liam Hemsworth in late 2018 before their final separation eight months later. They had a more conventional ceremony. The source explained that she “doesn’t necessarily want to be a ‘bride’ again or do anything traditional” this time around.
“Miley loves that this chapter of her life has been more private,” the source added.
The couple first met on a blind date in 2021. In an interview with People shortly after news of their engagement broke, Cyrus reflected on how private she and Morando have kept their relationship over the years since.
“The detail that I can share is that for us, our privacy and us kind of keeping it small has been something that I’ve been astounded that I’ve actually been able to have and being able to kind of have more choice,” Cyrus shared. “I think it’s also being older, being more protective of what I’m open to sharing.”
