Madhuri Dixit gets honest about balancing stardom and her family
As a movie star, for most people it becomes tough to draw a line between their reel and real life; but not for Madhuri Dixit.
Even in Noah Baumbach’s Jay Kelly, George Clooney portrays a movie star who confesses that years in front of the camera have left him feeling detached from reality.
“My life doesn’t really feel real,” he says. It’s a line that could apply to many movie stars, especially one of Bollywood’s leading ladies, Dixit, who has served four decades in Hindi cinema.
However, Dixit has been clear about keeping her personal life separate from stardom, as she revealed to The Hollywood Reporter India, always staying true to herself.
A key to this is staying grounded when she is home with her family and friends.
“I don’t carry the baggage of my popularity or my films,” she admitted. “When I walk into my house, all the fame stays outside. It’s just me who walks in.”
She extends credit to her parents, especially her mother, who kept her grounded throughout her flourishing career.
“So, I see myself like any other professional; you’re a journalist, I’m an actor, someone else is a director or a businessman. I’ve never carried the baggage with me,” she said.
