After spending her Thanksgiving out of the public eye, Taylor Swift is enjoying a very special—and very low-key—Christmas Day. This evening, her fiancé, Travis Kelce, and the Kansas City Chiefs will play a home game against the Denver Broncos. Swift will likely be there, as the singer has been regularly attending his games at Arrowhead Stadium—even if she has been keeping a lower profile than in previous seasons.
Before he hits the field though, he and Swift have spent this holiday week largely out of the public eye—and by design.
A source told Us Weekly on December 17 that Swift has been purposely savoring this holiday season. “This is her favorite time of year with the holidays and her birthday, and she has been intentionally slowing down,” the insider said. She’s been “cooking, spending time with family, and carving out space to enjoy being engaged.”
On October 29, Us Weekly reported that the couple was actively trying to minimize any holiday season stress as they looked ahead to end-of-year festivities, saying their plans “will be very low-key, family-centric and [won’t involve any] major travel.”
Swift kept her birthday celebration private, though she was spotted at Kelce’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers the following day, on December 14. Members of both her and Kelce’s family joined her, including her mother, Kelce’s mom Donna Kelce, and her future sister- and brother-in-law, Kylie and Jason Kelce.
The singer has struck a thoughtful balance between sharing some parts of her relationship (including in her docuseries The End of an Era) while keeping other moments private. While she and Kelce haven’t shared photos from past Christmases together, Swift was photographed at his Christmas day game in 2023.
In 2024, Swift was not seen attending Kelce’s away game. The singer has only been seen at home games the past two seasons, in part due to security concerns. In October 2024, a source told Page Six, “She’s not going anywhere unless she knows the venue intimately, and it has been thoroughly scouted and secured in advance.”
The star has kept her next career moves mostly quiet, though she just gave her fans a generous gift for the holidays: her completed six episode docuseries. She released its final two episodes on December 23, ahead of Christmas.
In episode 4, Swift spoke about why she believes her relationship with Kelce has gone the distance: The key is their shared approach to their careers.
“[There’s] been this dynamic shift with Travis,” she explained. “It’s shocking how many similarities we have towards our jobs and how we view them, and how we view each other. We both have jobs where we go out in NFL stadiums and entertain people for three-and-a-half hours, his with considerably more violence than mine, but he’s not in heels. But it’s our passion. We’ve been chasing this since we were little kids. So I don’t think I ever thought I’d meet a guy who had that same trajectory…And I’ve realized that, with this person in my life that just was the right fit for me, you can have the two passions coexist, and they actually fuel each other…Ultimately, we love cheering each other on.”
