Reality TV fans are mourning after a “Big Brother” star died at age 35.
Mickey Lee, who was a contestant on the CBS show’s most recent season, died on Christmas Day, her family announced “with profound sadness.” TMZ reports Lee had been hospitalized in the ICU after suffering multiple heart attacks due to complications from the flu.
“Mickey captured the hearts of audiences nationwide through her appearance on ‘Big Brother,’ where her authenticity, strength and spirit left a lasting impression on fans and fellow cast members alike. She will be remembered for the joy she brought into the lives of so many and for the genuine connections she formed both on and off screen,” her family said in a statement. “Mickey’s light, legacy and impact will never be forgotten.”
According to the celebrity.land, Lee was an Atlanta-based event curator originally from Jacksonville, Florida. She appeared on season 27 of “Big Brother,” and was the eighth contestant to be evicted; fellow houseguest Ashley Hollis was voted the winner in September.
“I prefer it this way,” Lee told Gold Derby after her elimination. “I get to go out and live my life a little bit before coming back for finale.”
A GoFundMe created on Dec. 22 said Lee “suffered a series of cardiac arrests” and was in critical but stable condition. More than $30,000 was raised to help her family with medical bills and Lee’s “ongoing care and recovery costs.”
“A vibrant, strategic, and unforgettable personality, Mickey captured the attention of fans with her energy, authenticity, and bold gameplay,” the GoFundMe page said. “Mickey has touched so many lives through her courage, bold personality, and unforgettable presence on ‘Big Brother.’”

Fellow cast members said they were devastated by the loss.
“She will always be remembered and I am beyond grateful to have had the opportunity to get to know her for the short period I did- she shared so much light with us and was such an amazing soul,” wrote Rachel Reilly, who appeared on seasons 12, 13 and 27.
“Thank you for everything,” co-star Zach Cornell wrote. “ATL Baddie forever and always.”
“Mickey this is so devastating. We are incredibly sad for this unfortunate loss. Rest peacefully beautiful,” added Mecole Hayes, who appeared on season 25 of “Big Brother.”
