James Gunn admits ‘Superman’ was the hardest film to make
James Gunn has made a major confession about his 2025 Superman.
The director revealed that the superhero reboot was the most challenging project of his career.
The 59-year-old said he had his doubts before finding the right actor to wear the cape.
Speaking on the Variety Awards Circuit Podcast, James said while Guardians of the Galaxy was second most difficult one, Superman remans the most tricky one so far.
“This was the hardest movie I’ve ever made. The next hardest was probably the first Guardians. With Guardians, you were building a corner of the universe that felt completely different from everything else Marvel was doing at the time.”, he said.
“Here, I was reorienting something everyone already thinks they understand. Strangely, it’s the most comic-book-driven thing I’ve ever done. More than any of my other superhero films.”, he added.
James eventually found David Corenswet as his superman after Henry Cavil had played the role for long.
The movie went on to be a hit and quickly became a fan favourite rendition of the flying superhero.
