Jessie Buckley’s Oscar-tipped ‘Hamnet’ helped her embrace motherhood
Jessie Buckley got more than just awards from her 2025 period drama Hamnet, which is being tipped to win major awards this season.
The Irish actress stars as English playwright William Shakespeare’s wife in the movie alongside Paul Mescal who plas the poet.
The couple navigates through grief of losing their son Hamnet, who inspired Shakespeare to write Hamlet.
After winning the Best Actress award at the Critics Choise Awards on Sunday, Jessie was asked about motherhood and this movie and she said “Well, I wasn’t a mother at the time that I filmed it. I deeply wanted to be a mother, but I have a mother and I know women and we’re pretty epic.”
The actress continued “We’ve got a lot. We contain multitudes. We’ve got a lot inside of us.”
Jessie had a daughter with her husband Freddie last year who is six months now.
She has spoken about becoming a mother previously saying she is “so grateful to be part of this community.”
The Irish actress said she wants to continue acting after expressing her gratitude for the opportunity to play Agnes.
