Meghan Markle was reportedly seen making a savage Megxit “request” to Prince Harry just six months after their royal wedding in 2018. According to a lipreader, the request took place at a Service of Remembrance at Westminster Abbey in London.
Today, January 8, marks exactly six years since the couple made the shock announcement that they were stepping down as senior working royals. In November 2018, the couple were joined by other members of the Royal Family, including the late Queen Elizabeth II.
According to the Channel 5 documentary, Lip-Reading The Royals: The Secret Conversations, Meghan was spotted conversing with Harry before she asked him a very important question.
Speaking on the show, lip-reading expert Nicola Hickling claimed that Meghan instructed Harry to “take advantage of the situation” before she looked around at the fellow royals surrounding them.
The expert then claimed that Harry responded to her comment by asking, “Today?” as Meghan added, “Do it tonight.”
Then, Harry poses a question to Meghan, asking: “You do realise that this is the end?”, to which Meghan responds: “Yeah, I do know”.
Royal historian Dr Tessa Dunlop has since suggested that the comments could have been them plotting their exit 14 months before their shock announcement.
Meghan was, at the time, three months pregnant with Prince Archie, who was born in the UK in May 2019.
The couple shared their exit statement to their then-joint Instagram account, alongside a photograph of the two of them.
It read that they wanted “to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen”.
