Princess Catherine is celebrating her 44th birthday by celebrating life itself.
This morning, the Princess of Wales shared an emotional video from her “Mother Nature series,” in which she speaks about her personal connection to nature, and how the wonders of the earth have helped her heal following a difficult cancer journey.
She narrates: “Even in the coldest, darkest season, winter has a way of bringing us stillness, patience, and quiet consideration, where the stream slows just enough for us to see our own reflection, to discover the deepest parts of ourselves, alongside the whispers and the pulse of every living thing.”
Shared on Kate and Prince William’s joint Instagram, the video shows sweeping views of trees and rivers, and gives a few glimpses at Kate, standing amongst the plants and taking it all in.
Kate continues: “I find myself reflecting on how deeply grateful I am, for the rivers within us flow with ease, fears washed away—cleanse and purify. Come to peace with our tears and discover what it means to be alive, to be at one with nature—a quiet teacher and a soft voice that guides in memory, helping us to heal.”
Kate’s 44th birthday today, January 9, is her first fully in remission from cancer. The royal was diagnosed with a form of cancer in March 2024. She was treated with preventative chemotherapy for the disease, and in January 14 2025—a few days after her 43rd birthday—she announced she was finally in remission.
In her post today, she nodded to her journey toward healing. “The Mother Nature series has been a deeply personal, creative reflection on how nature has helped me heal. But it is also a story about the power of nature and creativity in collective healing,” she wrote in the caption. “There is so much we can learn from mother nature, as we look to build a happier, healthier world. C”
